Back To The Planet
Kick Out EP – Buy On Our Shop
Back to the Planet are an independent, hard to define, dub, crusty, punk, ska band who started their career in the squats of London and on the Free Festival circuit in the golden era of the new age travelers in the late 1980’s.
They have been reformed since 2008 and have been playing a handful of Festivals and packed out London dates every year.
The band stepped up their game this year with the recording of an EP of 4 blazing new tracks, which were recorded in the studios of two of the members of the band who have both gone on to work as well known electronic music producers. Naturally some of that influence is in the recording, but this is a live performing band, and the record is intended to … Read More »

Back To The Planet – The Lexington 5/3/2016
Yes folks we are back at the Lexington pub in the Angel Islington, with the fabulous Tarantism and the unstoppable Ratbag
Saturday March 5th
Wicked little festival in South Wales, bang next door to Cardiff airport. I drove down there with Fil for the Sunday session and once we got through the trailer park to the field out the back we discovered a great little festival going on. Just a few hundred people, with a loveley vibe, great weather, and good music. Met up with some old mates, had a great chat with the RDF gang who we’ve not seen for a while but will be running into again soon at various places around the UK this summer.
if you haven’t been to Surplus fesitval and you like the idea of old skool bands fomr the traveler era plus new school punk rock and even a bit of folk, get yourself along there.
What a night! fantastic stuff from the support of Ex Carter USM aka Abdoujaparov and Doozer McDooze. Big thanks and hugs and all that go out to Grant & Jayne Holby for putting on the night. Thanks to everyone who showed up it was a brilliant turn out. The sound engineeer did an excellent job of tuning into our sound, and the Lexington is a great boozer in general which I would like to visit on a non-gig night someday. Here’s a few pics from our Facebook page.

New Songs New Tunes New Music!
Yes you read it right! After 20 years of the same old songs we have finally written some new tracks and they are not half bad, even though we say so our selves. For our new material we have delved into the arena of Drum & Bass, with 2 tracks entitled “Kick Out” and Where Has Our Soul Gone” then moved into slinky pop ska territory with “Lighten the Load” then ducked out of the storm, avoided the missiles of the past and put together a wild jazzy skankabilly fusion jam called “We Let Go”. Sound good?
So far we’ve only played 3 gigs this year, but more are being planned for next year and we are in the middle of recording these tracks in our home studios which should hopefully become available by Xmas or … Read More »
BTTP at Something Else In the Dean
Here’s a short video of us playing Human Error at the Something Else in the Dean festival last weekend.
Wicked little festy, only 500 or so people, great people, great food and local beers and super strong cider. music-wise Very punk, quite a lot of folk music too, even a bit of space rock! Sadly I couldn’t stay for too long so I had to get home, but it was great fun playing, shame about Fraggles amp falling over, that’ll teach you to jump about like a loony on a wobbly stage! Missed Inner Terrestrials and Headjam on sunday sadly. I’m sure they were excellent as usual.
Thanks to Dalia Smaizyte for taking the vid
Back to the Planet at Fordham Park Festival 13/09/2014
We had the great pleasure of playing at the infamous Fordham Park festival on the 13th Sept. For those of you in know Fordham Park is just a small green plot of land in the heart of New Cross. Normally this place is quietly forgotten about but there was a festival there about 20 years ago run by a local group of squatters the Conscious Collective and the Dole House.
The festival expanded over 4 years from the initial stage on the back of a truck, to full size purpose built main stage, and sideshows and sound systems. In the end, after the last festival had more than 30,000 people through the park over the course of the day, the local police who had been pretty patient with it all, said it was … Read More »
